CVS, the worst pharmacy ever

When I first decided I wanted to start a blog but wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted (we wanted) to write about, I knew one thing. I would not post meaningless rants. Well, I’m  half way breaking my rule. This is not meaningless. Ever have a dealing with a company, store, or restaurant and you just could not let it go? Well today that was me, and I can’t take their shenanigans anymore! Who, what, where, why, and how, you ask? I am about to tell you, and it is all true. (Only here for food, there is a link at the bottom for an awesome delicious fudgy brownie recipe)

I used to go to CVS pharmacy years ago, but in New York I had a bad experience at the CVS so I switched. When I moved down here I couldn’t find my back up pharmacy; no Duane Reade, Rite Aid, or the mom and pop’s store. Nope, I had to settle for the place I loathe the most, CVS. Yea, I could have gone to Walgreens or the grocery store….or the dreaded Walmart (that one is a given NO); but they are inconveniently located. So I transferred all of my prescriptions to the CVS closest to where I was working. It is embarrassing to say that I have a few prescriptions that I have to take so I see these people more than once a month. I’m not lying when I say for a year’s span, I could not go in that place with out a huge problem. I started thinking they were doing this to me on purpose (really). One month the pharmacist said she deleted my prescription from the system because I hadn’t refilled it in months. I had her look it up…. I refilled it the month earlier. So I had to leave the store and come back the next day where another incident took place. One month, I picked up a three-month prescription, when I got home and opened the bag, they only gave me one month while the bag said three. Same pharmacist. On a separate occasion I went to CVS to pick up a face cleanser prescription that had 11 refills remaining, and this was a face wash that’s been prescribed to me since living in NY. The woman had the nerve to tell me that she couldn’t renew my prescription because my Dr. called and said that I wasn’t allowed to have it anymore. FACE WASH let me remind you. The pharmacist then begins to tell me that she had given me the wrong prescription for over a year, while snickering. The wrong prescription! I stopped her, and asked her to repeat herself, I then reiterated her response, and she admitted again, she gave me the wrong prescription for over a year. She admitted to what could have been a huge law suit. I of course called my Dr. who said he had never spoke with anyone at CVS about a face wash. I then called corporate.

After switching CVS locations and going out of my way, I thought that things would get better, but they didn’t. All of a sudden I noticed my prescriptions becoming more expensive. I know that with the health care system everything keeps changing, but one day I decided to ask about some of these increases. It turns out for months CVS wasn’t running my benefit card or insurance. I looked at her dumbfoundingly and told her, if I am paying for insurance… don’t you think I want to use it, and if a Dr. gives me a card to cut the outrageous price of medication, don’t you think I would want to use that too. She said okay, and to give her a  half hour to re process. RE PROCESS, it was already processed!!!! Really! Here is what makes me the maddest; CVS pharmacist work from commission (or profit-sharing). That is right, for every dollar you give the pharmaceutical company, the pharmacist is making money off of you too. Starting to make sense. I talked to my dermatologist about it, and she told me that was one reason she didn’t like sending prescriptions to CVS, she knows how they treat their customers. I went to the CVS’ corporate website and was able to look up what the average CVS pharmacist in my area makes a year and how much from that comes from profit-sharing, or commission. I was able to compare CVS salaries by location in US. I went back and looked at my history and found many visits that I paid way more than what I should have. I then think about how the pharmacists behind the counter are “stealing” money from the customers. No wonder they do not like to run people’s insurances; I hate saying this word…but, what douches!

There have been other minor occurrences between then and now, but today I had it. Yes there is more:

CVS!!!! #$%^*&

CVS!!!! #$%^*&

I go in to pick up a prescription that they were out of stock of a few days ago when I originally called it in and told me it would be a day or two. I go to pick up and when I go to pay, she charges me some astronomical price that no one in their right mind would pay. I looked at her and asked if she ran my insurance and card. She replied no (like last time), told me to give her a second. Next thing I know she is chatting about her New Year’s Eve plans with a customer while my stuff just sat. After I got up and walked over she looked at me and told me my card had expired. The card doesn’t expire. So I went home, grabbed the card off my dresser, pulled up my account and I see that the card is active and ready to use. Angrily, I count to ten, and call CVS. The man gives me the number that they have on file… which is not even close (not even the same number of digits) as the number on the card. He put the number I gave him in, and said it took. We will see tomorrow when I go back (AGAIN) if there is any trouble!

I need to find a new pharmacy!!! Damn CVS and their reward bucks and many convenient locations and 24 hour service!

So this post isn’t a completely non food related…..here is a link to some delicious brownies!
