The Only Steak Marinade You Will Ever Need

The Only Steak Marinade You'll Ever Need.

The Only Steak Marinade You’ll Ever Need.

I’ve marinated and cooked my steak this way for quite a while now, and I just realized I had not posted the recipe for The Only Steak Marinade You’ll Ever Need…literally. This marinade is enough for 2 large steaks or 4 smaller ones. When I let the steaks marinate in the fridge, I placed the zip-lock bag containing the marinade and meat  in a Pyrex dish in case of leakage.

A few weeks ago I bought a jaccard. A jaccard is used for tenderizing meat and it helps with the marinating process. I bought my Jaccard Supertendermatic 48-Blade Tenderizer from amazon.com and I absolutely love it. When it comes to grilling the steak, we like ours medium rare which is about 3-4 minutes a side or until the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees F. We use an instant-read thermometer to tell us the internal temperature.

Using a jaccard helps with tenderizing and marinating.

Not only does it help tenderize, it helps the marinade penetrate deeper into the meat.

I’ve tried many things with steak, and this is by far one of my favorites.

The Only Steak Marinade You Will Ever Need

  • Prep time:
  • Cook time:
  • Total time:
  • Yield: 2
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Recipe type: Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 6 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tbs rosemary
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 2 large steaks or 4 small steaks of your choice of cut

Directions:

  1. Place the olive oil in a small bowl, add the remaining ingredients and stir well.
  2. Use the jaccard, up and down, and left to right on both sides of the steak (picture above)
  3. Place the steaks of your choice in a large zip-lock bag. Pour in the marinade and seal the bag. Turn the bag over ensuring the steaks are coated in the marinade. Let the steaks soak in the marinade for at least 2 hours at room temperature or, even better, over night in the refrigerator.
  4. Turn the bag over time to time to re-distribute the marinade.
  5. Let the steaks sit at room temperature for 2 hours before grilling, if they were marinated in the refrigerator.
  6. Grill steaks over medium high heat for 3-4 minutes a side or until desired temperature. We eat ours medium rare which is about 3-4 minutes a side depending on thickness of the cut of meat.

I tried it on lamb chops the other day and it’s just as wonderful! It’s probably good on just about any cut of meat of any kind. Might have to try it on bison soon. 🙂

        Thanks!

It’s a very versatile marinade. I think that is what we love so much about it (that and the amazing flavor) We are planning on trying it on a variety of different proteins. I have never had bison before, you’ll have to let us know how it is! (I would be more willing to try it with this marinade over it!)
